Raise money for that book you’ve been meaning to write (and what it can do for a brand)

I would hear this every other damn day. And had been for the last three years. It was rubbing salt into the wound every bleeding time. I used to love that quote, that antagonistic quote so much, until, around 2009 during my time in Sydney, I announced I was going to write a book. Unfortunately, the writing had carried on for a few years, and the more it did, the more that quote reared its ugly head from my friends and acquaintances.

We sat in front of a webcam, ate some cheese, and live-streamed a plea to get funds via QR code. We were inspired by an article that regarding a bitcoin user setting up a QR code on a placard, and holding it up ESPN to receive funds. We were intrigued by the idea, and wanted to set up a scenario where an impromptu live-stream could replicate the same experience.

What’s the plan for HackDigital.net?

Since deciding to pull the trigger and launch HackDigital.net, we’ve received a lot of feedback and questions. The number one query has centred around the above question. The thing is, we don’t think its the most important. Sure, we’ve got an idea of what we’re initially going to offer, who our target could be, what services we can offer, and some ideas about getting customers – but by making a plan the number one priority, we’re neglecting a core part of our offering.
