Today, GPT-5 launches across our platforms, including Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot, GitHub Copilot, and Azure AI Foundry. It's the most capable model yet from our partners at OpenAI, bringing powerful new advances in reasoning, coding, and chat, all trained on Azure.

It’s hard to believe it’s only been two and a half years since Sam Altman joined us in Redmond to show the world GPT-4 for the first time in Bing, and it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come since that moment.

The pace of progress is only accelerating, and I can’t wait to see what developers, enterprises, and consumers will do with this latest breakthrough.

Excited to bring OpenAI’s gpt-oss models to Azure AI Foundry and to Windows via Foundry Local.

It’s hybrid AI in action: mix and match models, optimize for performance and cost, and meet your data where it lives.

Anything is possible from recovery, and I’d argue even more is possible because the world needs more of us to bounce back and help those around us 💙

"- The button is sitting there and I can turn it on/off - that's it. No explanation. No what you can do with it. No prompting. Just turn it on or off Marshy - gosh what more is there to know?"
""
"- I was reading from a script - but make many, many mistakes is using the tool. I was reading to the side I had glasses reflecting, I had poor light direction, I wasn't reading to the centre..."
""
"- I only know all of these things were wrong because after playing I went searching and found the product page (their demo looks MUCH better than mine) and then the help page (where it says "It only works on video with eye contact: This may be obvious, but if you’re turned entirely another way or looking at a script to the side of you, it probably won’t do anything at all.")"
""
"No - there's nothing obvious about the experience at all!"
""
"I use your product every week, it's a button that appeared and I clicked on/off and turned into a goofy alien 👽"

"It's not hard to provide a prompt/onboarding/explainer about how to use a product and - hear me out here - it actually increases the chances of someone using the product regularly after trying it for the first time."

"This is 101 stuff - and is a rushing/eagerness/leadership problem - not an AI problem."

We just wrapped our earnings call. It was a very strong close to our fiscal year. A few highlights:

Azure surpassed $75 billion in revenue for the first time this year, up 34 percent year over year.

It has been quite the journey from 0 to 75!

We have come a long way from Project Red Dog... we now add as much capacity in a month as we did in our first five years!

Super grateful for the trust so many customers have placed in us through the years.

One other big number we shared: more than 100 million monthly active users across our family of Copilots.

We rolled out our biggest update to M365 Copilot this quarter, and we saw the largest quarter of seat adds, with a record number of customers coming back to buy more seats.

Plus, we have Copilots and agents for every role and function, which are all growing fast, from GitHub Copilot for devs (20M users), to Dragon in healthcare (13M physician-patient encounters this quarter).

And with Copilot Mode in Edge, it is exciting to see innovation come back to the browser!

Azure Foundry is our app server for AI, and we’re seeing great momentum.

Foundry offers access to more models than any other hyperscaler, as well as best-in-class tooling, management, observability, and built-in controls for trustworthy AI.

And when we look at just the number of tokens served by Foundry APIs, we processed over 500 trillion this year, up over 7X.

This is good indicator of true platform diffusion beyond a few head apps and services.

You can read more about our results here: https://lnkd.in/gvQd_xNf

Today we’re introducing Copilot Mode in Edge, our first step in reinventing the browser for the AI age.

My favorite feature is multi-tab RAG. You can use Copilot to analyze your open tabs, like I do here with papers our team has published in Nature Magazine journals over the last year.

And there is a lot more to come, including built-in actions so you can delegate tasks as you browse.

Try it out for yourself here: aka.ms/copilot-mode

I caught up with Stu Nimmo yesterday on a call and he's looking for senior product/UX work."
""
"I'll share some general tips about searching below."
""
"I'm putting this out there because there's a trend I'm seeing for talented mid-senior and senior professionals."
""
"Here's the trend:"
""
"- Start career"
"- Do well in a role and get approached to work somewhere else"
"- This cycle continues for 10-15 years where the professional hasn't had to apply for jobs, market or sell themselves, because they've always had another opportunity to walk into"
""
"This is because the talent is great - and that's been the reality for someone who is great at what they do (like Stu)."
""
"Unfortunately there's been a significant downturn in tech, product, marketing, and agency roles. "
""
"This has disproportionately impacted senior roles as organisations seek to do more with less and "trim the fat"."
""
"I don't agree with it, but it's the market reality."
""
"So people like Stu have had to learn how to sell and market themslves by this reality."
""
"So here's some tips - some of which Stu was already doing too!"
""
"- Look outside the standard job boards (SEEK and LinkedIn). There's some golden roles that can be found on EthicalJobs.com.au, Startmate's talent engine, Blackbird's Lilypad, and Airtree's job board. Even if you're not seeing jobs that are an ideal fit - you're getting a sense of how ads are being written and what the asks are"
"  "
"- Hit your network - everyone has one. You can start by reaching out to people you've worked with before to catch-up, and then branch out more broadly to more distant connections to learn more about what they're up to so you can keep an eye out for things that might help them in the future. I connected with Stu through an older post he did and this is exactly what he was doing!"
""
"- Look for temporary roles in adjacent or shoulder industries. Never worked in Government? Have a crack! Interested in non-profit? Check it out with lower-stake commitments. Temp roles have a lower barrier to entry. They are typically looking for specialist to do something specific. Or sometimes want to throw a body at a challenge within a narrow timeframe to see if it can be solved. Not only does it get you out there again - it might surprise you and it builds your network too."
""
"It's hard out there and I feel for people who haven't had to "sell" themselves before. "
""
"It's a brutal lesson to be forced into learning as you get older and I hope a tip or two helps someone out there."
""
"Needless to say if you're hiring now and looking for a senior product/UX specialist you definitely need to hit up Stu Nimmo."
""

""
"I'm healthier. "
"More calm. "
"More aware of who I am and who I want to be. "
"A father. "
"Grateful for what I have instead of frustrated about what I haven't got. "
"Contributing to causes that are very important to me. "
"A marathon finisher! 🥇🏃🏽‍♂️💨"
""
"This change worked for me and I'm not telling anyone what to do because it's none of my business."
""
"I'll only suggest that if the idea of doing a Dry July and going a month without alcohol seems like mission impossible - know that I was there too."
""
"Today - I know going back to that lifestyle is impossible for me. There's a deep unassailable commitment to look after myself no matter what. "
""
"It's possible and worth a shot if you're interested."
""
"Cheers!🍻 <-- with a Sobah Beverages of course, you should definitely buy some*"

Excited to share two advances that bring us closer to real-world impact in healthcare AI:

SDBench introduces a new benchmark that transforms 304 NEJM cases into interactive diagnostic simulations. AI must ask questions, order tests, and weigh costs, mirroring the complexity of real clinical decision-making.

MAI-DxO is a model-agnostic orchestrator that simulates a panel of virtual physicians. It achieves 85.5% diagnostic accuracy—four times that of experienced doctors—while cutting diagnostic costs.

Together, these advances offer a blueprint for how AI can help deliver precision and efficiency in healthcare, and we're looking forward to working with healthcare partners and the entire ecosystem on these advances making a difference.

Hey Matt - thanks for seeking feedback from the community."
""
"My name is Luke. Anyone that's known me for longer than a year tends towards my nickname - "Marshy"."
""
"I often just say I have "lived experience" with mental health and get a nod. I once had someone poke back - "doesn't everybody?" - which was true, but didn't feel like unpacking the depths of my lived experience for that person there and then."
""
"There's a concept in queer and kink (and I'm sure many other worlds that I'm not as familiar with) about "outing"."
""
"You don't."

"It's my choice to reveal my sexuality, just like its my choice to share what I'm into and not into with people I feel safe with."
""
"The same goes for my mental health."
""
"When I meet an employer, potential client, mentee, or person at a BBQ I don't say - "hey I'm Luke I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder 20 years ago"."
""
"Because there's much more to me than a diagnosis that helped at the time but doesn't help my recovery today."
""
"Outing is something I manage more openly than most."
""
"The blessing/curse of writing a book about my lived experience is that its very discoverable and I'm comfortable with that openness."
""
"But even with a warts and all book out there about bipolar disorder and bisexuality I would still prefer to be asked how I like to be addressed."
""
"I'm a real person, a father, a spouse, and an enthusiastic centre/forward in our over35s basketball team."

""
"Thanks for asking as its discussions like these that normalise things for more people."
""
"And working through mental health challenges of any size - is super normal."

Did you know HubSpot's share price is nearly 20X the original price in 2014?"
""
"I think one reason for this is the increasing popularity of lead magnets."
""
"A lead magnet solves a narrow part of a larger problem."
""
"Your business makes the majority of its revenue from solving larger problems."
""
"The challenge is potential clients don't understand the larger problem."
""
"They just want the solution to the narrow part."
" "
"Examples:"
"📉 I want to lose weight quickly - not transform my health, diet, and lifestyle"
"💰 I want leads now - not change the way my business markets and sells itself"
"🏠 I want to know how much I can sell my house for - not I want to put my property up for auction"
" "
"The equivalent for coaching and consulting used to be a "discovery session" where someone could jump on a call with no obligation, strings, or expectation of purchase."
" "
"The challenge today is that people don't want to jump on a call with you."
" "
"They're tired. 😴"
"Smashed with deceptive ads. 📢"
"An LinkedIn InMail box flooded with pitches for 15 guaranteed appointments each month. 🤦🏼‍♂️"
" "
"When you're offering a call alone - you're simply associating yourself with all the the rest of the crap out there."
" "
"So how do you solve for this?"
" "
"Give people a chance to get to know you with your own lead magnet. A piece of digital collateral that helps your customer's narrow problems and gives them a chance to get to know you."
" "
"It could be:"
"✅ A cheat sheet for meal prep Mon-Friday"
"✅ A blow-by-blow guide for generating leads within a customer's existing network"
"✅ A property value calculator with watch-outs, call-outs, and your industry expertise built into its messaging"
" "
"Let them try before they buy you."
" "
"Software world lives and dies by this approach."
""
"It's now the same for agencies, consultants, small business owners, and coaches."
""
"Plus it makes it a hell of a lot easier for people to refer you."
""
"They can also get on your mailing list, connect on LinkedIn, or learn more about you before asking for more help."
" "
"What do you think? Have you noticed the same thing as a provider or someone buying services? How are you sussing them out?"
" "

Spot the odd one out: writing, video, marketing, and music."
" "
"I was curious about which one is attracting the most interest when paired with searches with "AI"."
""
"I thought "music" was going to be the least interesting because we've got such a strong emotional connection to music and I don't think that will interest in that is going to change anytime soon."
" "
"The charts in the GIF show Google Trends search interest in each of the terms worldwide over the last 5 years."
" "
"While "AI marketing" enjoyed a lot of hype earliest, it's now far less searched for than video, writing, or music."
""
"Paired on the same chart - video is far ahead of the others."
" "
"I saw a recent Gartner survey mentioning marketing budgets are at a 5-year low and that leaders are expected to do more with less."
" "
"Broad search trends like this aren't super telling, but I do believe people are craving more authenticity in their messaging."
""
"Polished production and "channeling the right message" are getting replaced with talking heads, reviews, adn communities craving something more real."
" "
"Have you played with any AI tools in one of these categories?

Last night I saw another post lamenting (another?) wave of tech layoffs and reminiscing about what once was."
""
"This is a crappy experience for the individual and I am not arguing otherwise."
""
"But this is one of the best things that can happen to the planet 🌏"
""
"Rightly or wrongly, big tech has had disproportionate access to some of the world’s top talent."
""
"Talent that then gets tasked with incrementally increasing what a big advertiser spends, or fine tuning the design of a menu option to increase overall stickiness by 0.03% compared to the control group."
""
"These are not hair on fire problems."
""
"But this talent has been paid disproportionate amounts of money to stay put and protect their companies advantage by squeezing platforms for all they are worth."
""
"Internal jokes used to range from being unable to shake off the shiny golden handcuffs to I can’t believe we’re being served stir-fry chicken again today our personal chef is terrible."
""
"I say this with utter certainty because I’ve walked away from this charade twice and have worked out of dozens of these offices around the world."
""
"If you’ve been laid off (or it’s coming shortly), here’s the good news. You’re up. "
""
"The world needs you and we don’t have the luxury of time to get this shit sorted."
""
"Take stock of your skill set, get humble, and do what you need to do. "
""
"Here’s some prompts but I know you’ll do it your way - that’s why they hired you:"
""
"- Terra.do is a global training and job sharing platform for people wanting to work in climate change. Go soak it in."
""
"- The nonprofit sector can be painful but there’s also a lot of people who care about the world that can benefit from what you have to offer. Park your salary expectations at the door. One way around this is contracting to get the higher temporary rate but also ensure you can deliver impact for them. There are recruiters available for senior hires in this niche and they’re not hard to find."
""
"- Hit your network. No not the usual people that are going to place you in the same-same-but-different roles, the ones outside the techno-bubble. There’s a whole cross-section of sectors that need help. Interesting ones that intersect with purpose include ESG, social enterprise, government programs, and corporate accelerator and social impact initiatives. Ask questions and shutup and listen first."
""
"I’m still on the journey and have no more offer to you. I will say something has shifted and I’m closer to my spiritual centre than I ever was."
""
"And I know I didn’t know I had a spiritual centre while at a global sales conference nailing beers in a baseball stadium while Will.I.Am and Bruno Mars played a private concert."
""
"Go and find your centre 🙏

Have you ever looked at an emotion wheel?"
""
"The first time I did it took me by surprise."
""
"It wasn't something I'd say out loud, but my feelings as an adult used to move between "good" and "bad"."
""
"An emotions wheel points to all the variants within emotions and enables far more depth and understanding."
""
"Was I really taken by surprise or was it shock?"
""
"I feel it was shock because it wasn't until hitting my early-to-mid 30s that I realised I'd been navigating life with one arm tied behind my back."
""
"My feelings are clues. "

""
"Sometimes they pop up because of things that happened to me while I was a child."
""
"The best thing I can do is heed those feelings and look after myself in a way that helps me love myself and be of service to others."
""
"What this isn't:"
""
"🚫 Attaching judgment to what's coming up e.g. good/bad"
"🙅🏻 Trying to "fix" it"
"😡 Something I need to react instantly to"
""
"Improving my emotional vocabulary has taken time. "
""
"Therapy, shadow work, support groups, and time have helped me navigate the wheel with more sense of purpose and intent - and its made navigating life and the workplace a hell of a lot easier."
""
"Its connected me to a "body intelligence" that's helped me make more informed decisions and trust what's surfacing up more often."
""
"For example, I was considering a coaching offer over the last couple of weeks that would have required a substantial level of investment."

""
"A few days ago the why popped into my head."
""
"The kinder way to look at this situation - and much more likely to be true - is that this was a mother in distress."
""
"Nobody chooses to take that many young kids onto a train at 10pm unless there's something really challenging going on."
""
"I'll never know what the challenge was. "
""
"It could have been violence at home, a family emergency with no vehicle, or something else."
